During the week, I was tidying up my application for the Arctic Innovation Competition. I slightly improved the 3-D printed components by adding another hole to the face. The prototype now works well enough to demonstrate the working concept and I began taking pictures of it in use.
This morning, I finished taking pictures and added the last slides to my presentation set. After that, I went through it to resize pictures and realign some text to keep the format consistent. It bugs me when there are “jump cuts” between slides. Melissa looked through the slides and made a few suggestions, which I greatly appreciated. She is a talented editor and often has good advice to share. For the sake of marital harmony, I ignore her irrational dislike of the Oxford comma.
This afternoon, I submitted the application and slide set. In the coming week, engineering students and a community panel will look over the submissions. The following week, a panel of innovation and manufacturing experts will take their turn. The top 10 entries move on the to semi-finals. If I am selected, I will receive word on or before March 21.
No. I am still not going to say what my invention is.
It still resembles a mask, in my own mind. Now you have added an open mouth, so it looks very surprised in its aspect.
Don’t take any longer than necessary to announce what on earth its function is!
