Chokecherries

The chokecherries on our lots have been blooming for some time.  Today they caught my attention in particular.  The sky was a clear blue and there was enough of a breeze that some falling petals swirled along twisting paths as they drifted to the ground.

The sunlight on the white blossoms made for such a high contrast with the leaves and shadowy areas in the trees that the pictures were not to my liking.  So, I tried photographing the blossoms from the underside of the tree, looking out.  The best view of this sort was chosen as the title image for today’s post.  It shows a bit of the chimney and the house’s roofline framed against the sky, surrounded by the limbs of the chokecherry in the back yard.

Another visual treat for the day was a visit by a hare.  It was too far away to take a sharp photograph.  In the image, you can see that this fellow has fully transitioned to summer colors.  From the size, I am sure it is not the larger hare that was regularly visiting in the winter.  It could be the smaller one that came by less frequently.

To me, the pixellation of the image makes it look like an impressionist painting.  I might call it “Hare in a Field of Grass.”

  1. I am so happy to “hear an understanding” of visual delights being a privilege. If it isn’t exactly on your track of thought, it is what I want it to mean!
There is so much joy and wonder in the world of nature.
