First Moose of the Winter

After Church, there was a moose in the garden near the raspberry arbors, eating some of the willow tree.  This one was not very big.  I suspect this is its first winter on its own.

In the winter, moose come into town from the surrounding areas to look for food.  We often find moose tracks in the driveway and in the yards.  Sometimes moose will walk through the breezeway (about 6’ wide) between the house and garage.  Since the moose can be 5-6’ tall at the shoulder, it is quite a sight to look out the window and see one near the house.

So far, we have only had one incident with a moose: a young bull took a dislike to the trailer we use to haul wood shavings and trash.  Otherwise the biggest problem has been having to wait for them to leave so we can drive out of the driveway.
